Fun Spot America Kissimmee + Fun Spot America Orlando: Thrillography's Great Floridian Expedition Trip Report - Part II

Good evening! :}

After a day at Sea World, it's time to take on the closest thing Orlando has to a conventional regional park (and its podunk parking lot sibling).

Welcome to Fun Spot America Kissimmee, where music is loud, the beer is cold, and the rides are sketchy.

AND where the sky coaster is 300ft tall!

Sad Jonathan is sad. No flyers today.

Fortunately the triflin' ass kiddie credit is more cooperative!

Upon bandwagon jumped.

Enjoy the smooth, crisp taste of ROCKSTARTM Brand Energy Drink after taking a spin on Fun Spot America's ROCKSTARTM Spinning Coaster!

Amid Fun Spot is Old Town, a washed up shopping and bar district that at one point featured carnival-ish rides like Fun Spot.

The haunted house in Old Town is now more of a haunted crack den.

Fun Spot has a Zamperla "Surf's Up" (closed), which I'd never actually seen in person before.

Something is not quite right here.

Ok ok enough of the Kissimmee Fun Spot. Let's talk about other Fun Spot.

There are two excellent full-sized coasters here and a much safer-looking kiddie coaster.

AND! And. This.

What is it, you ask? It's a Schwarzkopf Enterprise!

But not just any Schwarzkopf Enterprise! It's Wheelie from Six Flags Over Georgia!!

And it has a sick LED lighting package!

Despite my many visits to Six Flags Over Georgia, this was my first time riding Wheelie. lol

This bright thing is Freedom Flyer, a Vekoma Family Suspended coaster. The highly space efficient coaster is a clone of "Kvasten" at Gröna Lund in Stockholm.

Upon Freedom Flyer there is much nighttime swooping!

The real star of Fun Spot America is the modest but exquisite White Lightning GCI woodie.

This is as close as we're going to get to having a shot of the ride in action at night. Deal with it.

Other Fun Spot exploits include a 250ft sky coaster, a scrambler, and "the world's fastest paratrooper."

Plus an older Ferris Wheel with a flawed but well-meaning LED light package.

Because Fun Spot is so awesome, we were treated to a 10 minute Ferris Wheel ride!

Jonathan looking at the Orlando Eye Ferris Wheel!

Out in the distance is Magic Midway, a coaster-less amusement area home to a large slingshot ride and North America's first Starflyer.

Feast your eyes on the loveliness that is White Lightning! It's the perfect mid-size wooden coaster, featuring a nice sequence of elements, good pacing, and plenty of air.

The older side of Fun Spot is still very much a jazzed up Family Entertainment Center, but it's still way nicer than the one in Kissimmee.

Pretty much everything in this picture opened in 2013, the year Fun Spot made the leap from a small FEC to a regional park of respectable size overnight!

I see you, Wheelie!

Off in the distance is Universal Orlando. The two towers of Dr. Doom's Fear Fall and the light-laden tunnel of the freshly remodeled Incredible Hulk coaster are on the left; CityWalk and Rip, Ride, Rockit's vertical lift are on the right.

There are several good looking go-kart tracks here, but I'm not really much for go-karts myself.

Time to call it a night!

But not before some White Lightning marathoning! We got 18 rides in total!

Thanks so much to Jonathan for showing me such a wonderful time! I'd say my first day in Florida was a smashing success!

Tune in next time for Thrillography's first visit to Busch Gardens Tampa! It's gonna be a wild time! x}
